make it rain

Something like #icant.

For an artist with a name as big as Ed Sheeran and for an artist whose songs are constantly on the air, he is not your typical “pop-artist.”  Ed’s work is surprising, versatile…he is truly talented.  From “Give Me Love” to “Don’t” to “Make It Rain (!!!!!!!!!),” Ed brings a variety of solid performances to the table.

Who would have thought that this notoriously sweet ginger could belt out this gem for Sons of Anarchy?  Listen to his process of making the song here.

PS- For all you “The Voice” fans: cover.

over [down] unda

Do you think it takes two years for good music to travel around the world?  Karise Eden won the Voice Australia in 2012.  Why isn’t she over here, over there–ALL OVER doing her thing?  She is a mix of Janis, Amy, and maybe even Aretha?  She a beautiful creature and I’d like to hear more of her right now.

He does it all

Pharrell added “coach” to his long and impressive resume today when he announced he will be joining the voice and taking the spot of Mr. Cee Lo Green in Season 7. This is great news for the Voice franchise and for fans of the show. Read more about it here. c.

Spoiler Alert

Danielle Bradbery is the Voice. Blake Shelton has a 3peat ladies and gentlemen. I fully enjoyed the season finale tonight–the chemistry between Shakira, Usher, Blake and Adam is undeniable and it is a hoot to watch them. Danielle has been a clear frontrunner since the beginning. She is 16 years old and her voice has been described as “perfect.” She and her coach Blake played the game well having her remake old country tunes that now appeal to a younger audience. I will admit I had never heard the original version of “Maybe it Was Memphis” and now I am totally digging this song. Watch out for this girl folks…she’s pretty amazing. oh yeah..did i mention she is 16? She was given a car on the show and she can’t even drive yet. Where were you at 16?…..woof. c.

Wasting All These Tears

Cassadee Pope was the winner of the Voice last year from team Blake. She reminds me a lot of Avril Lavigne (they even did a duet together last season); however, even given her rocker roots she has decided to “go country.” Who knows if it was her coach Blake Shelton’s influence or if she just fell in love with the genre. All I know is this song is pretty good but it will never beat the cover she did of “Over You” last season on the Voice. Take a listen to her debut single and we will see if her record stays true to her rocker roots or sways country. c.

Sassy Sasha

I apologize jammers, I have fallen short with my Voice commentary this season. However, I am about to make up for it. Sasha Allen has been classified as the girl with pipes–from Aretha Franklin to Adele she can belt it all. Shakira, her all-too-adorable-and-really-spicy coach, decided that Sasha needed to show her fierce side–Usher even called her “Sasha Fierce,” that is quite a name to live up to. She performed “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood, her goal was to turn this country jam a little New York with some attitude and some pretty awesome notes. The voice elimination is tonight when one person out of six will get kicked off but lets hope its not Sasha Fierce. c.

put your records on

In celebration of “Record Store Day” take a listen to this version of “Put Your Records On” by Caroline Glaser and Danielle Bradbery during the battle rounds on the Voice. Caroline is one of my favorites thus far (and its not just because she is from STL). Stay tuned for more updates from this season of the voice! c.

stripped wild

Juliet Simms, former leading lady of Automatic Loveletter and runner-up on season two of the voice, released her first single “Wild Child.” By some she was criticized for veering away from her rock and roll raspy roots. Maybe in part to silence these voices she released an acoustic version of Wild Child–check it out here. c.

america fails.

Yes. Thanks a lot America you kicked off the best person on The Voice–Amanda Brown. Here was her last song on the show and she absolutely killed it. Alas! This will not be the end of her.

I suppose my “new-favorite-but-will-never-compare-to-my-old-favorite” is Cassadee Pope.

wild rasp

I have posted about Juliet Simms a few times now–she was the runner up of the voice last season and my favorite. This badass chick won me over with “Roxanne” and “Free Bird” and now she is out on her own and has just released her new single “wild child.” This girl has rasp, scream, pipes, and sex appeal–what could be better than that? Take a listen to this single and watch her badass video because I have a feeling we will be hearing and seeing a lot of this chick. c.
