Way back in the late summer/early fall of 2012, there were a series of shows I mentioned going to.  Here is the beginning of me telling you about those shows.  In true fashion, it’s better late than never, right?

The Domination Tour came to Irving Plaza in New York on October 6, 2012.  The line up included Cisco Adler and the Pigeons, the Expendables, and Iration.  Perhaps it was because of his ties to Shwayze that Cisco Adler, formerly of Whitestar, had everyone buzzin’.  He had enough energy to run over the George Washington Bridge during his set, which just so happened to continue throughout the entire night.  Although not a Cisco Adler fan, it was apparent that his music was fitting as an opening act.

The Expendables, Santa Cruz natives, owned  the stage, as they have many times before.  The veterans exuded the laid-back Cali vibe as they transitioned between their reggae, ska, punk, and surf-rock set list.  The more metal songs got a little mosh going up front, but rightfully so, ears perked and lighters sparked at the start of “Down, Down, Down” and “Bowl for Two.”

I was happy to see Iration as the final act because they carried on the night with a lot of hype.  Their enthusiasm and excitement over the fact that they were playing in NYC was infectious.  In no time, bodies were swaying and heads were bopping.

A staple to most reggae-influenced shows is to finish the encore with a tribute to Bob.  This show at Irving Plaza was certainly no different.  With all three acts on stage, the night closed with a compilation of Bob Marley songs, including “Stir It Up.”  Prior to this was a refreshing surprise when Iration killed an epic cover of Weezer’s “Say It Ain’t So.”

Hopefully the West Coast got a taste of this more rock version of Iration during the Heatseakers tour that just wrapped.  I don’t know how they do it, but on top of continuous days on the road, I hear an album is due this year…
