pants off dance off

Big day, ears, big day.  50 Shades of Grey soundtrack is available in iTunes (and Spotify…and probably by now, Youtube).  It’s out just in time for the 14th for all of you (Valentine) horndogs and (movie) super fans.  Say what you will about the book (and eventually about the film), but how can you not dig this compilation of songs with a roster that features Annie Lennox (who wowed us all at the Grammys on Sunday), The Weeknd (who oozes sex), rookie and cool girl Jessie Ware, Ellie, B, Sia, Stones, Awol, Frank Sinatra (wut.)?  Yes, I just listed practically all of the artists, but hey, you’ll understand why when you play this playlist through February.  What’s good JT?

Girl Power

Beyonce and Nicki remix “Flawless.” I feel like we all should have seen this coming. Everyone is buzzing about it because B addresses the “elevator brawl” in the song:

“We escalatin’, up in this bitch like elevators
Of course sometimes shit goes down when there’s a billion dollars on an elevator”

Still a little ambiguous but take a listen for yourself.

P.S. I don’t believe the rumors. c.

all kinds of excited

Uhhh….definitely NSFW.

The rest of my day is totally shot, thanks to you, Mr. Grey.

AND…B’s broken down version of “Crazy in Love”?

I have a feeling the soundtrack is going to be 50 Shades of definitely-not-fucked-up because it’s already sounding like Jay-Z’s outstanding production of most recent The Great Gatsby‘s soundtrack.

Am I right? :

Who runs the world?

Beyonce. I’m sure everyone has seen it, heard about it, and drooled over it–Beyonce is on the cover of TIME Magazine’s “The 100 Most Influential People” edition. Although the majority of us think that this is awesome given her poise, smarts, beauty, voice, and overall awesomeness, others are complaining. One of the many reasons she was chosen for the cover is because of her agenda–gender equality. It was evidenced fiercely in her recent album but this quote from her sums up her thoughts precisely.

“Humanity requires both men and women, and we are equally important and need one another. So why are we viewed as less than equal? These old attitudes are drilled into us from the very beginning. We have to teach our boys the rules of equality and respect, so that as they grow up, gender equality becomes a natural way of life. And we have to teach our girls that they can reach as high as humanly possible.”

For any naysayers out there Beyonce is looking to break the unfortunate cultural norms that have become a part of our society and if only for that reason she deserves the cover. Cheers, Bey and bow down bitches. c.
