1.  U2-Bad

I love U2 and believe with all my heart Bono does no wrong (Bono for president) and this song proves what a cool freakin guy he is.  Written about heroin addiction, Bono wrote this song for a friend who was a heroin addict.  I love the entirety of this song, the pure genuineness and compassion in it and the lyrics.  One of my favorite verses:

If I could through myself
Set your spirit free
I’d lead your heart away
See you break, break away
Into the light
And to the day

2.   Steve Miller Band- Take the Money and Run

I probably have a five way tie between my favorite song.  But that one song that I have belted every word to since I was little and will continue to do until I’m 92 is Take the Money and Run.  Thank you, Dad, for playing SMB’s Greatest Hits album on trips to the shore every year during the summer.  I associate this song with sunshine, escaping routine, and going on adventures.  It tells a story of lovers on the run from the law–very Bonnie and Clyde-esque.  C’mon, what’s more romatic than that?

3. You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)- Meatloaf

I swear I must have been listening to meatloaf straight out of the womb because my love for him is somewhat unnatural for a 23 year old. However, let me make it clear that I am far from ashamed. It was hard to pick just one meatloaf song to showcase but I chose this one because I can honestly remember dancing around my family room growing up completely enthralled with the words to this song. Would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?
